- Signed in: open your account. If your name appears, tap your name. Your Apple Account settings open.
- Signed in: open Sign-In & Security. Tap Sign-In & Security. The security choices open.
- Signed in: choose Change Password and stop here. Tap Change Password, then enter the iPhone passcode when Apple asks. This finishes the signed-in path; do not continue to step 5. The trusted iPhone begins Apple’s password-change process. The signed-in path is complete.
- Signed out only: open Apple Account. Use this step only if Apple Account appeared at the top of Settings. Tap Apple Account. The sign-in choices appear.
- Signed out: choose Sign in Manually. Tap Sign in Manually. The manual sign-in screen appears.
- Signed out: choose Forgot password?. Tap Forgot password?, then follow Apple’s identity checks. Apple begins the recovery path for a signed-out iPhone.
