- Open Settings. Tap the gray Settings icon. The main Settings list opens.
- Open General. Scroll a little, then tap General. The General screen opens with Software Update in the list.
- Open Software Update. Tap Software Update. The Software Update screen opens.
- Wait for the check. Keep the Software Update screen open while the iPhone checks. A checking indicator appears on the Software Update screen.
- Read the result. If the screen says the iPhone is up to date, you are finished. If an update appears, continue with the Update your iPhone task. The screen says iOS is up to date or shows an available update.

Tap Software Update.

Wait for the check
Keep the Software Update screen open while the iPhone checks.
